Extended Absence

I am having some serious problems uploading photos to flickr, so until I find a cafe that works (all of Hanoi's old quarter seems to be shafted), things are on hold. As of today I have completed my first part of Vietnam and am flying today (Jan 1) to Luang Prabang in Lao. Since my last post, I have seen Hanoi, Sapa and Halong Bay. The last couple sets are not up yet, but if you want to see a few pics from Hanoi, you can check them out here by clicking on the Hanoi set.

I am going to spend the next 10+ days in Lao, then a week in Cambodia and finally back to the south of Vietnam to complete the loop in late January. Incidentally, that is where they currently have a bird flu outbreak (scan down for blog updates from Reuteurs). So, let's have an informal poll. Do I
a) check out the Mekong delta anyway and just not eat poultry, or
b) play it safe and steer clear
NB any advice that you give leading to a crippling illness and/or death can and will be used against you in a court of law.

On that note, Happy New Year everyone, may you all have a flu-free '07.
